ECIPE invites you to the launch of the ANU Press publication “Australia, the European Union and the New Trade Agenda”
Australia is one of the few OECD countries with which the European Union does not have a comprehensive trade agreement. Australia and the EU are entering a new phase in the bilateral relationship, and the push towards a potential trade agreement has been steadily gaining momentum. On 13 September, the European Commission presented a recommendation to the Council to launch negotiations for an Australia-EU FTA, together with the draft negotiating mandate. Once the Council gives its approval, negotiations can commence.
The Australian Embassy to Belgium and Luxembourg and Mission to the European Union and NATO, the Australian National University (ANU), ECIPE and Australian Business in Europe, Belgium invite you to the launch of the ANU Press publication “Australia, the European Union and the New Trade Agenda”. This publication, initiated and edited by the ANU Centre for European Studies, brings together diverse and practical contributions to the policy debate on the Australia-EU FTA.

REGISTERAlison Burrows, Australia-EU FTA Chief Negotiator, Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade will speak at the launch, together with panel members Pierre van der Eng, Associate Professor at the ANU College of Business and Economics, Don Kenyon, Associate Professor at the ANU Centre of European Studies, Hosuk Lee-Makiyama, Director ECIPE and Pascal Kerneis, Managing Director, European Services Forum. Following the presentations, there will be opportunities for questions from the audience. Roderick Abbott from ECIPE will chair the discussion.
The panel discussion will be followed by a reception featuring some fine Australian wines. Hardcopies of the book will be available for sale at the reception.
